Air Niugini welcomes arrival of brand new Q400 Nextgen aircraft

National airline, Air Niugini have welcomed the arrival of its first brand new Q400 Next Generation aircraft to Port Moresby and Papua New Guinea. The aircraft under the registration P2-PXU, resplendent in Air Niugini’s new livery featuring a magnificent plumed bird of paradise arrived to a traditional wash down ceremony as it taxied into Jacksons airport. Gulf Centre for Aviation Studies receives certification from General Civil Aviation Authority

Upon the recommendation of H. E. Saif Mohammed Al Suwaidi, Director General of GCAA, the Department of Aviation Security & Infrastructure in the General Civil Aviation Authority awarded yesterday the Gulf Centre for Aviation Studies (GCAS) the certification to its facilities in Al Bateen Executive Airport to provide civil aviation security courses, in line with the training guidelines legislated by the Civil Aviation Law of the United Arab Emirates. Middle Eastern airlines have been spending big at the Farnborough Air Show to expand their fleet as passenger numbers in the region continue to grow. But is the growth sustainable? Air Transport Services Group purchase three Boeing 767-300 aircraft

Air Transport Services Group has said this week that its Cargo Aircraft Management (CAM) subsidiary has committed to purchase three Boeing 767-300 series extended-range aircraft from Qantas Airways and anticipates to take delivery in the third quarter. ATSG announced on May 10, 2010, that CAM had executed a letter of intent for the purchase of the passenger-configured aircraft. All three are Boeing 767-338ER aircraft, equipped with General Electric CF6-80C2-B6 engines. KLM to increase flights to Tokyo

KLM Royal Dutch Airlines will strengthen its position in the Japanese market by operating three additional flights a week between Amsterdam Airport Schiphol and Tokyo Narita International Airport from November. This raises the total number of Amsterdam-Tokyo flights to ten a week. In so doing, KLM not only strengthens the longstanding ties between the Netherlands and Japan, but also meets demand driven by the many Japanese companies operating in the Netherlands. Space shuttle Atlantis and six astronauts ended a 12-day journey of more than 4.8 million miles with an 8:48 a.m. EDT landing Wednesday at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida. The third of five shuttle missions planned for 2010, this was the last scheduled flight for Atlantis. The mission, designated STS-132, delivered the Russian-built Mini Research Module-1 to the International Space Station.
