Video: David Coulthard drives the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG E-Cell

David Coulthard, the former Formula 1 driver has traveled  to Norway to test drive the latest prototype from Mercedes-Benz, Mercedes-Benz AMG SLS E-Cell.

The difference with this Mercedes-Benz AMG SLS is that the large V8 engine has been replaced by a pair of electric motors mounted on each axle, giving the AMG SLS E-Cell four-wheel drive. Each motor can rev to 12,000rpm.

This bright yellow Mercedes AMG SLS prototype is finished in ‘AMG Lumilectric Mango’. Along with the unique paintwork this SLS also features a range of new changes including an adjustable front splitter, new diffuser and wider grille along with  changes to the interior including buttons for park, reverse and drive; displays for battery status and estimated range; and a 10-inch touch screen infotainment system.

Although no prices are available yet from Mercedes-Benz the SLS AMG E-cell  is expected to go on sale in 2013.
