Dubai Airport expansion plans to cost $7.8 billion

Dubai Airport has today announced that His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, (Vice-President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates) has endorsed its US$7.8 billion (28.8 billion AED) airport and airspace expansion programme which will boost capacity at Dubai International  Airport from 60 million to 90 million passengers per year by 2018. Can you sleep without the sound of jets in the sky?

Just a thought but with the skies over Europe lacking the sound of jet aircraft have you been able to sleep?

It may sound a mad question but when I was based near some of the main London airports it wasn’t long before the noise of a jet engine, every 90 seconds, seemed to disappear into the background. It did take a while but soon I was enjoying a good nights sleep every evening.

When I relocated to the countyside it was like starting all over again to get a good nights sleep. The quiet can be so loud! And the cows and the sheep and the birds and the….!!

For those folk campaigning, for reduced noise and a reduction in airport expansion, at least they can experience a little peace and quiet as reward for their crusade.
