Emirates to use Airbus A380 Double-Decker for Rome flights

Emirates has announced today that the historic capital city of Rome will be the next destination slated for its flagship Airbus A380 aircraft. The daily A380 service will start from the 1st December 2011.

The announcement of Emirates’ first permanent scheduled A380 service to Italy comes on the back of its momentous June 6th landing at Rome’s Leonardo da Vinci airport to mark the celebrations for its 50th anniversary, while commemorating 150 years of Italian unification. Read more

Boeing 787 arrives in Japan for ANA route checks validation

Boeing and ANA today began an important validation of their readiness for the 787 Dreamliner’s entry into service.

Throughout the coming days, ANA pilots, together with Boeing, will fly a 787 Dreamliner on actual airline routes in Japan using airline dispatch and flight rules. ANA’s mechanics and ground crews will also gain experience with the aircraft in a simulated operational environment. Read more

Virgin Blue starts Sydney to Uluru flight service

The Virgin Blue Group of Airlines this morning dispatched its inaugural flight for its Sydney to Uluru service.

The special service, operated by a Boeing 737-800 with industry guests, media and commercial customers was farewelled by traditional indigenous didgeridoo players and dancers. Read more
